Yoji Shinkawa ENDED

This is my first post for my college blog i will try to keep things ordered.

Background on Yoji Shinkawa

Yoji shinkawa is a Japanese artist most famous for his character creation and design with the Metal Gear franchise which will be my topic for this blog Shinkawa has also done art work for games for example zone of enders and policenauts.

Shinkawa's artwork on the metal gear series is different compared to typical Japanese games whereas games produced in japan follow a typical art style ex anime the metal gear series has a western art style with Japanese elements in the game play.

Shinkawa produces his artwork with paint using short strokes that looks sloppy but in actuality its rather comply and unique his sketches however follow a typical style his artwork also appears to be misty usually not having a full face and incorporating iconic images such as big bosses cigar and moving across his face.

shinkawa has also done artwork for other konami such as zone of enders drawing the mechs but he is the lead designer of the metal gear series where most of his artwork is which is why I a focusing on this franchise.

His use of colour in his artworks are also interesting using bland colours such as beige or blue or no colour at all instead of  using a specific colour on one part of the body such as the clothes he used different shades of a colour for the entire body.

so in conclusion in my opinion shinkawa's artwork is chaotic with strokes that trail off the picture but they come together to prouder a iconic and unique design that more than lives up to the metal gear story following from top left down

in Zone of enders the artwork done by Shinkawa is similar that he uses sketch instead of paint however the artwork is more rounded and circular in comparison with the metal gear 2d designers however skinkawa was not the lead designer so theirs not as much of his artwork compared to metal gear. Zone of enders also follow a more typical Japanese design with the mechs.
unfortunately i have not played zone of enders so i cant write a lot about it
